My Story

For a long time, life felt like a constant race

I was a full-time working mom, and most days, I felt like I was trying to squeeze my entire relationship with my daughter into the few hours between getting home from work and bedtime.

A couple of hours together.

Then bedtime.

Then getting ready to do it all over again the next morning.

I loved my daughter deeply, but I didn’t love the pace of our life. There was always somewhere to be, something to do, or something waiting on my to-do list.

And if I’m being completely honest, I never imagined my life would look the way it does today.

In April 2025, the company I had worked for for almost ten years closed.

Losing my job wasn’t something I planned for. And giving up an income was—and still is—hard.

But sometimes the things we never would have chosen become the doorway to something we never knew we needed.

Today, I’m in my second year of homeschooling my daughter.

I’m a homemaker.

I’m her teacher.

I’m learning how to slow down.

And I’m learning how to simplify.

Choosing What Matters Most

One of the biggest things this season has taught me is that busy doesn’t automatically mean productive, and full doesn’t automatically mean fulfilled.

I don’t want to spend my days rushing from one thing to the next only to realize I missed the things that mattered most.

I want to be present.

I want to have time to make dinner without feeling like I’m racing the clock.

I want to teach my daughter and actually enjoy the learning process.

I want to be outside more.

I want our home to feel peaceful.

I want to have room for the little things—the conversations, the walks, the messy kitchen, the books on the couch, the ordinary moments that somehow become the memories we remember most.

That’s what simplifying has started to mean for me.

Not having a perfectly minimal life.

Not doing less just for the sake of doing less.

But making more room for what matters.

My Journey Toward Cleaner Living

My interest in cleaner products actually started long before I became a mom.

As I learned more about the ingredients in the everyday products we use—everything from skincare and personal care to household products—I started paying much closer attention to what I was bringing into my home.

I began looking at ingredient labels instead of simply trusting the front of the bottle.

I started asking questions.

Why is this ingredient here?

Is it actually serving a purpose?

Is there a simpler option?

And are there products I can choose that align better with the way I want to care for myself and my family?

That doesn’t mean I believe everything natural is automatically good or everything synthetic is automatically bad. It means I believe it’s worth being an informed consumer and paying attention to what we’re using every day.

Our skin is our body’s largest organ, and what we put on our skin can be absorbed into our bodies. That’s one reason the products we use matter to me.

I want to choose products with ingredients that have a purpose—not simply because a product is marketed well or because I’ve always bought the same thing.

Stewardship Looks Different for Everyone

For me, this journey is also connected to my faith.

As a Christian, I believe my body is a gift from God, and I want to be a good steward of what He’s given me.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to live a perfectly “clean” life.

It doesn’t mean every product in my house is completely natural.

And it definitely doesn’t mean I have all the answers.

It simply means I’m trying to make more intentional choices.

I’m learning.

I’m simplifying.

I’m paying attention.

And I’m choosing, when I can, to incorporate products and practices that feel more aligned with my values—including ingredients and materials inspired by what we find in God’s creation.

So, What Is Simply Sara?

That’s really what this space is about.

Simply Sara isn’t about having it all figured out.

It’s about the journey.

It’s about simplifying where we can.

It’s about homemaking, homeschooling, faith, family, cleaner choices, taking better care of ourselves, and finding joy in the ordinary.

I’ll share things I’ve learned, products I’m loving, things I’m trying, and probably a few things that didn’t work along the way, too.

Because I’m still figuring it out.

I’m still learning how to balance being a wife, mom, homemaker, teacher, and business owner.

I’m still learning that saying no can be just as important as saying yes.

And I’m still learning that a simpler life doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s built one choice at a time.

One slower morning.

One ingredient label.

One family dinner.

One homeschool lesson.

One walk outside.

One decision to put down the phone and be present.

If you’re in a season where you’re craving a little less noise and a little more of what matters, I hope you’ll stick around.

I’m glad you’re here.

Simply,

Sara
